We all know someone who needs to make a few repairs to his or her driving habits. It might even be us.

What better time to begin working on those than as we start a new year.

A "friend” recognized the need to improve and told me he was willing to share his list. So here are some of his New Year’s resolutions, as relating to attitude and intentions behind the steering wheel, including his reasoning:

→No more gunning the engine of his monster pickup while waiting at a red light next to one of those little toy cars. He says the vibration may tip them over.

→No more seeing how close he can get to the car ahead of him without touching. Those bright headlights can all but blind small children in the back seat.

→No more popping the clutch as the light turns green. He notes that it can be really embarrassing to kill the engine in the middle of the intersection, especially with lots of traffic around.

→Be more aware of fuel consumption. Check the gas gauge more often. It isn’t fun to run out of gas.
