EL PASO, Texas — Quarterback Landry Jones and receiver Ryan Broyles connected for three touchdown passes, propelling Oklahoma to a 31-27 victory over Stanford in Thursday's Sun Bowl.

The duo posted career numbers as OU won its first bowl game in four years.

Jones threw for a career-high 30 completions and 418 yards to lead the offense to its best performance of the season away from Norman.

“I thought I made some smart decisions,” Jones said. “I got a lot of help from Ryan, too.”

Broyles, who outshined Stanford All-American running back Toby Gerhart for Sun Bowl MVP honors, caught 13 passes for 156 yards, both career highs.

With his bowl performance, Broyles finished the year with 89 catches, breaking Mark Clayton's school record for receptions in a season. Broyles also tied Clayton for most touchdown receptions in a season with 15.

“Landry put the ball on the spot,” Broyles said. “A great feeling to end the season this way.” Sun Bowl box score
