NEW YORK — Badgley Mischka put a more intimate spin on its fall-collection runway, introducing itself as "Mark and James.” Mark is Mark Badgley, and James is James Mischka, designers with a reputation for pretty daytime clothes for the socialite set and glamorous gowns for the red carpet and charity-ball circuit.
Several front-row guests at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week were chatting about how much they personally like the design duo. But Badgley Mischka seems interested in making a bigger name for itself among consumers. It has launched watches, jewelry, eyeglasses, shoes and handbags, and the Badgley Mischka American Glamour brand is on HSN. Among memorable pieces in the catwalk show: white-white, faux-fur jackets; a faux-leather and glazed-lace dress; sparkly leggings and a chic black suede dress with a hint of military influence; and a champagne-and-blush organza peony gown.
