Teen board to help infants in Oklahoma City
The 35 members of the Teen Associate Board of Infant Crisis Services are preparing for the Sugar Babies auction April 23 at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.
The charity dinner and silent auction will benefit the Oklahoma City-based nonprofit that provides the basic necessities to more than 9,000 babies and toddlers in central Oklahoma each year.
Individual tickets are $50, and tables of eight are $500. To buy tickets, call Judith Cope at 778-7614 or e-mail judithcope@infantcrisis.org.
The teens on the board represent 10 metro-area high schools including Bishop McGuinness, Casady, Edmond Memorial, Edmond North, Heritage Hall, Carl Albert, Mount St. Mary, Putnam City North, Putnam City and the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics.
The Teen Associate Board was formed in 2001 by 21 high school students who organized the first teen board charity auction and raised $12,000 for the organization.
To become a member of the Teen Associate Board, teens must first complete a summer volunteering at Infant Crisis Services. Applications for the 2010-11 Teen Associate Board will be accepted throughout summer. For information, call Infant Crisis Services at 528-3663 or go to www.infantcrisis.org.
