"He makes plays, he forces double-teams, people have to worry about him because he’s a talented guy and can rush the passer,” Spagnuolo said. "That would be typical of any defensive tackle that you thought was meriting being a first-round pick.”
McCoy didn’t participate in any of the testing, but did do some individual drill work that seemed to impress the approximately 50-plus scouts attending.
The Rams are rumored to be deciding between McCoy, Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and OU quarterback Sam Bradford, who won’t work out until March 25 in Norman.
Spagnuolo said he plans to be back for that.
"I’m looking forward to spending more time with him,” Spagnuolo said of Bradford, who is in Pensacola, Fla., rehabilitating his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. "We’ve got a little ways to go. Got to see where he is health-wise.”
Spagnuolo will have another reason to come back March 25.
McCoy, who didn’t have a strong bench press performance at the Combine, benching 225 pounds 23 times, said he’ll bench again during Bradford’s pro day and expects to do much better.
