NORMAN (AP) — Police say a 7-year-old girl and the man accused of abducting her after allegedly killing her mother were likely dead for a month before their bodies were discovered.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Newell of the Norman Police Department said Tuesday officers did everything they could to find Aja Johnson and Lester Hobbs since late January. Two bodies were found Monday and investigators believe they belong to the pair.

Newell said that, based on the decomposition of the bodies, they were likely at the scene for more than a month. A man who owns property in the area called police Monday after seeing the car.

Johnson and Hobbs had been missing since Tonya Hobbs was found dead Jan. 24. Tonya Hobbs was Lester Hobbs' estranged wife.
