MOORE — Officials are waiting to see the effects of Moore’s designation as Oklahoma’s "Best Affordable Suburb” in Bloomberg Business Week magazine, said Deidre Ebrey, Moore’s economic development director.

"I don’t think you could ever quantify the effect of that,” Ebrey said. "Everything about it is positive.”

The article in the March 2 edition of the magazine identified one suburb in each of the 50 states as "best affordable.”

According to an excerpt posted on the city’s Web site, www.cityofmoore.com, the magazine said it looked at suburbs within 25 miles of the most populated city in the state, with populations of 5,000 to 60,000, median family incomes of $51,000 to $120,000 and lower-than-average crime rates.

"Affordability is among the most important factors when selecting a place to raise a family, but it is far from the only consideration,” according to the article by Venessa Wong. Other factors evaluated included schools, commute, racial diversity and green space.

Ebrey said the article was based on two-year-old data from Moore.
