According to multiple media reports, Thunder assistant coach Ron Adams is expected to return to Chicago to serve under Tom Thibodeau, the associate head coach to Doc Rivers in Boston who reportedly accepted a three-year deal to lead the Bulls. Maurice Cheeks also is one of several coaches whose name has been mentioned as a possibility to round out Thibodeau's staff. No announcement is expected until after Thibodeau has completed his coaching duties with the Celtics in the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. Adams, the lead assistant under Thunder coach Scott Brooks, came to Oklahoma City midway through the 2009-10 season and has been credited for the team's defensive turnabout. Cheeks, who last coached Philadelphia during the 2008-09 season, was instrumental in assisting Brooks and helping to develop second-year point guard Russell Westbrook and rookie Eric Maynor.
Ollie considering UConn coaching jobReserve point guard Kevin Ollie told Connecticut reporters last week that he has significant interest in joining Jim Calhoun's coaching staff at the University of Connecticut. "I'm definitely interested in coming to UConn,” Ollie told the Journal Inquirer, "but nothing has been formulated — no contract or anything like that.” Ollie told the paper last week that he intended to submit his resume to the school but also said he has an opportunity to coach in the NBA. Ollie said his first preference would be college coaching, particularly UConn because it's his alma mater and is in close proximity to his Glastonbury, Conn., home and his wife and two children. "I'm just exploring my options...and I still may have an opportunity to play,” Ollie told the paper. "That's a longer shot than the other two, because I have to wait until July 1, and, knowing me, probably Aug. 1 once the big guys sign. That's my third option right now.”
Durant on the 2010 free agent classOn his official blog, Kevin Durant weighed in on the highly-awaited 2010 free agent class, writing that the anticipation is so great that even his grandmother is asking him for details. "As far as my take on where some players might end up, I think (Dwyane) Wade is going to stay in Miami, I think (Chris) Bosh will go join him in Miami and I think with LeBron (James)...it's either Chicago or Cleveland,” Durant wrote on kevindurant35.com. "Now, that's just what I think. Just my guesses. Of course, you never know.”
