Dan Beebe admits even he wasn't sure what was going to happen to the Big 12 Conference up until Monday.

But as the commitments came in from around the league, the Big 12 commissioner finally realized the league had been saved.

In addressing the media in a conference call Tuesday, Beebe confirmed he had received assurances of commitment to the Big 12 from everyone but Texas Tech.

Beebe said he believes Tech will also commit to the Big 12 following a regents meeting Tuesday afternoon.

"A lot of people thought it wouldn't be good for college athletics if the Big 12 no longer existed," Beebe said, referring to a number of people outside of the conference that got involved to help save the Big 12.

Contrary to some reports, Beebe said no TV deal for the conference had been reached, but did point out he "got verification from consultants that we are in a tremendous position to reach agreements to put us on par with anyone in the country."

Beebe noted that Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma all had multiple offers to go to other conferences, suggesting the SEC not only was interested in the Aggies, but Texas and OU, too.
