DUNCAN — A Duncan man died in a single-car accident today after the car he was riding in ran off the road and plunged into a rain-swollen creek, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Leslie B. Webb, 35, was a passenger in a car driven by Lowrey B. Beckworth, 39. About 3:30 a.m., Beckworth was driving south on 8 Mile Road west of Duncan when he lost control of his car, ran off the road and plunged into a creek, the patrol reported.
The creek was swollen because of heavy rains, the patrol reported.
Webb was unable to escape the car and drowned, troopers said.
Beckworth, also of Duncan, survived. Troopers said they believe alcohol use contributed to the accident.
