Edmond mother sues school district
A mother has filed a lawsuit against the Edmond School District. She claims her son was abused at two of Edmond's elementary schools.
EDMOND — A mother who claims her child has emotional disabilities has filed a lawsuit against the Edmond School District and a dozen district employees.
Jennifer Ashford, said in the lawsuit that her son was repeatedly put in timeout or quiet rooms while he attended Orvis Risner and Centennial elementary schools dating back to 2007.
The mother is asking for a monetary judgment in excess of $75,001, according to the lawsuit filed in Oklahoma County District Court.
Associate Superintendent Brenda Lyons said the lawsuit has been discussed by school board members in an executive session, but there will be no public comment by the board or school district.
Angela Smith, the mother's attorney, did not return calls or an e-mail from The Oklahoman.
