YUKON — The Yukon School Board is expected to vote Monday on the number of days or hours students will be in class this year.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. in the administration office's board meeting room, 600 Maple St.
On the agenda is a vote concerning House Bill 1864, which gives schools flexibility over whether they count days or hours to meet the minimum amount of class time required by state law.
The school board's intent is to maintain a school calendar with 175 instructional days, while allowing flexibility to use the new state statute allowing the school calendar to consist of at least 1,080 hours of instruction, the agenda reads.
The board also will hear updates on summer construction projects and the 2010-11 budget, and will consider hiring 13 employees.
