The Miami Dolphins talked to Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz coach Sparky McEwen earlier this week to set up a tryout date for quarterback Tommy Grady. McEwen said he's been hearing from the NFL team throughout the Arena Football League season about the former Oklahoma signee.

McEwen said the Dolphins are looking for a practice squad QB who will have opportunity to step in as a backup on the active roster in future.

Miami currently has four quarterbacks on its training camp roster. Grady is scheduled to work out Monday in Miami.

"It's a great opportunity," Grady said Friday night after throwing for seven touchdowns in Oklahoma City's 74-61 season-ending loss to Tulsa in the Cox Center.

"It says a lot about my whole team. I wouldn't be there if it weren't for the rest of these guys."

The Yard Dawgz finished the season 6-10, losing their last three games and missing the playoffs. Division champion Tulsa improved to 10-6, turning a Grady fumble into a touchdown drive and returning an interception for a score.

Still, Grady threw for 372 yards. He threw two touchdowns each to Alvance Robinson and Craig Fulton Jr. Grady also ran for a touchdown.

"You can still win with one turnover a game," Grady said. "But if you have more than one turnover a game it's hard to beat an offense like that."

Former University of Central Oklahoma quarterback Justin Allgood threw for 273 yards and 10 TDs for Tulsa, which beat Oklahoma City twice this season.

"We really wanted to come out for the sake of the fans and finish strong," McEwen said. "They played hard, but one thing you can't do is a give a team that good extra chances."
