Coaches weren't necessarily sure about what the order the three teams would end up in, but they were pretty confident about who is the cream of the crop in 2A-5.

Morris just edged out Stroud and Okemah as the early district favorite, and almost all coaches had the three ranked in the top three of the district.

The Eagles, coached by Larry Crenshaw, were 7-5 last year, and quarterback Hayden Sharp proved to be more than capable of running the Wing-T offense. Sharp threw for almost 1,400 yards last season.

Meeker looking to build off momentum

It was looking bleak for the Meeker program a couple of years ago, but coach Mike Hedge has things back on track.

Following back-to-back one-win seasons, the Bulldogs were back into the playoffs last year.

Hedge said Tyler Jones is going to play a big role for the team. After spending some time at quarterback last year, Jones will be in his more comfortable spot of running back.

"He's a playmaker who can do a little bit of everything," Hedge said. "I was proud of how hard our kids worked last year. Our physicality is always going to be our strength."

Tigers moving on up

Stroud is one of many teams making the jump from Class A to 2A, but coach Chris Elerick has one reason to be optimistic.
