Patton taking the reins at RB

Millwood senior Shevin Patton's first play at running back last year went for 80 yards. So when Emilio Gatewood transferred to Norman North, it was obvious who would take his place.

Patton has received offers from Memphis, Kansas and Tulsa after playing wide receiver last year, but in his first showing as the lead tailback, he took the spotlight. Patton scored Millwood's first touchdown and racked up nearly 100 yards against Oklahoma Centennial.

"He's shown how many people he can make miss," Millwood offensive coordinator Kevin Cox said.

QB inconsistent for Titans

Dillan Dansby has some big shoes to fill at quarterback for Carl Albert.

And although the junior has shown progress, he's not where Titans' coaching would like him to be yet.

"We've got a lot of work to do there," Carl Albert coach Gary Rose said. "But the potential is there. But the only way he's going to get better is in full-speed game action and tonight definitely helped him out with that."

Bombers' line a patchwork

Although they've got Trevon Lewis anchoring one defensive end spot, the Midwest City line isn't nearly as stable as it was a year ago when Dominque Jones, now at Baylor, plugged the middle.

"We're still rolling a bunch of guys in there," Midwest City coach Steve Huff said. "I think we're going to be all right but we'll probably keep moving guys in and out of there because we're having to use some of those guys both ways this year, which is something we haven't had to do."
