Five matchups that will be key tonight when Oklahoma State faces Texas A&M in a Big 12 opener in Stillwater.
The Cowboys offensive line vs. Texas A&M defensive line
Protecting Brandon Weeden is priority No. 1 in any game but it's particularly key against Texas A&M. The Aggies boast Von Miller are averaging 8.67 tackles for loss per game. The Pokes' line will have to continue their solid play.
The Aggies offensive line vs. OSU defensive line
Probably the most overlooked matchup of the game. Texas A&M has allowed 10 sacks in three games against lesser talent than OSU brings to the table. If the Cowboys can pressure Jerrod Johnson into mistakes, they should win.
Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson vs. OSU's cornerbacks
Johnson is an mobile quarterback who scrambles to make plays downfield. If he gets out of the pocket and creates more time for himself, OSU's cornerbacks (and safeties) will have to hold up well in coverage.
OSU running back Kendall Hunter vs. Texas A&M linebackers Garrick Williams and Michael Hodges
Williams and Hodges, the Aggies' linebackers, will be the key to slowing Hunter. If they can't make plays against the Cowboy running back he could be in for a big day.
OSU receiver Justin Blackmon vs. Texas A&M cornerbacks
Blackmon will likely be the focus of Texas A&M's pass coverages. If he can still be productive it will make OSU's offense that much tougher to defend.
