The Oklahoma City-County Health Department immunization clinic is setting aside the next two Tuesdays for flu vaccinations only.
"Normally, on any given day our clinic provides a variety of immunizations for children and adults, including vaccinations needed for travel," Program Administrator for Immunizations Joyce Lopez said in a news release. "We're scheduling flu shot Tuesdays so that people wanting only the flu vaccination can get in and out more quickly."
The special clinics will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Oct. 19 in the health department's main building at 921 NE 23.
Immunization to protect against influenza is recommended for everyone 6 months and older. This year's vaccine is formulated to provide protection against three strains of influenza, including the H1N1 virus that took the lives of 47 Oklahomans during the past year.
All county health departments in Oklahoma are charging $25 for seasonal flu vaccinations this year.
Programs are available to assist anyone who cannot afford the fee.
