Beware Lafayette? Only if you dabble a little too dangerously in the spicy gumbo. The Ragin' Cajuns aren't talented enough to hang, not to mention too banged up, unless the Cowboys contribute heavily to a major upset. So that's where the Five Spot begins this week...
MIKE GUNDY, COACH, COWBOYS
The last time the Cowboys went on the road into Sun Belt territory, Troy blasted them and Gundy was golf-clapping on the sideline throughout the disappointing effort. It's on him to have the Pokes pumped this time.
JOE DEFOREST, ASSISTANT, COWBOYS
DeFo (or is it DeFeaux this week?) returns to his alma mater, where he warned of the craziness that should be expected in Cajun country. Hopefully he's warned the Cowboys, too, about consuming cayenne pepper.
LADARIUS GREEN, TE, CAJUNS
Lafayette appears overmatched offensively, but Green offers a big-play variable, averaging 74 receiving yards per game. At 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, he'll look to open things up for others by stretching the middle of the field.
CALEB LAVEY, LB, COWBOYS
After once believing his season was over due to injury, Lavey made his debut against A&M. In what should be a comfortable win, Lavey needs to make the most of more reps to get ready for the Big 12 battles ahead.
JOHNNY THOMAS, FS, COWBOYS
With starter Victor Johnson out, it could be Thomas' time to shine in the secondary. He struggled at times against A&M and needs to clean up his play, or risk being passed by a freshman.
