Durant continued to play through the discomfort but the injury eventually worsened.

“After the game, I think it got worse,” said Durant, the league’s leading scorer at 28 points per game. “Maybe I should have come out in the first quarter. But I just wanted to help my team win. And I felt if I was on the floor I was helping my team.”

Thunder forward Jeff Green has also been ruled out for Friday. Green has missed five of the past six games while nursing his injury.

The Thunder is being cautious with Durant, who underwent an MRI test Thursday, the results of which were negative. Durant also wore a protective boot Thursday, but he said it was more to alleviate discomfort.

“I woke up (Thursday) morning and it was very stiff. I couldn’t walk,” Durant said.
