STILLWATER — It won't be official until BCS rankings are released today, but after Oklahoma's 47-41 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday, it looks like the Sooners are headed to the Big 12 championship game.
A two-loss OU team is expected to be ranked ahead of OSU and three-loss Texas A&M in the BCS, which is why everyone expects the Sooners to face Nebraska Saturday night in the Big 12 title game.
"What would be more fitting, how exciting to pair up against Nebraska," OU coach Bob Stoops said. "Not that it's exciting to play them. They're an excellent football team. But the tradition and history between Oklahoma and Nebraska and with them departing from (the Big 12), for us to have one more go at it is pretty exciting and special.
"Bo Pelini and his staff have done a great, great job the last few years there. Of course, we're great friends. That aside, to have one more go at Nebraska-Ou would be pretty good."
OU linebacker Travis Lewis said: "It doesn't get any better than Oklahoma and Nebraska for the Big 12 championship. The rivalry goes way back to even before the Big 12 started. Who better to play than Nebraska."
