Bowl projections: Beat Nebraska, and OU is headed to the Fiesta Bowl

Beat Nebraska and win the Big 12 Championship this weekend, and Oklahoma's bowl future is simple. The Sooners would head to the Fiesta Bowl, where they'd either face Connecticut, West Virginia, or possibly Stanford (the Cardinal is guaranteed of a BCS bowl at-large berth if it can remain at No. 4 in the rankings next week).

Connecticut can win the Big East with a win over South Florida. If that happened, the Orange Bowl, which gets to pick its at-large team ahead of the Fiesta this year, would almost surely pass on the Huskies and take Stanford, leaving UConn to the Fiesta.

However, if the Huskies lose, and West Virginia defeats Rutgers, the Mountaineers would represent the Big East in the BCS. A potential matchup between West Virginia and presumptive ACC champ Virginia Tech could compel the Orange to go ahead and take the Big East champ, leaving Stanford to the Fiesta.

Can anyone say “rematch?”

If the Sooners lose to Nebraska, their bowl destination is not so cut-and-dry, with the Cotton, Alamo, Insight and Holiday bowls all being possibilities.

The most likely scenario for the Big 12 title game loser, however, is the Alamo, which is almost certain to take Arizona.

Can anyone say “Stoops Bowl?”
