Five Lyric Theatre performers whose resumes list dozens of stage appearances have been selected to headline a cabaret show titled “December Divas.”

Directed by Lyric artistic director Michael Baron, the show will spotlight the singers in holiday music from the musical theater.

Accompanied by piano, bass and drums, the “December Divas” cast will showcase the talents of Beth Adele, Mandy Jiran, Heather Geery-Mayfield, Parish Mechling and Barb Schoenhofer in solos, duets, trios and full company numbers.

“I've always been a huge fan of cabaret, and ‘December Divas' gives us the opportunity to show off Oklahoma City's big talent pool,” Baron said. “Most of the featured numbers are from Broadway and Hollywood musicals.”

Hollywood's golden era of movie musicals introduced quite a few seasonal carols, including “White Christmas” (from 1942's “Holiday Inn”) and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (from 1944's “Meet Me in St. Louis”).

The musical theater, in turn, did its part to contribute some popular seasonal favorites with “We Need a Little Christmas” (from 1966's “Mame”) and “Hard Candy Christmas” (from 1978's “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”).
