SPARKLE AND SHIMMER

Party: Ann Alspaugh and Jim Vallion entertained friends at a holiday dinner.

Place: The Coach House, where lights in the trees at Nichols Hills Plaza surrounded the restaurant and provided a beautiful and colorful holiday setting. Inside, flower bouquets of roses and Christmas greenery decorated the tables.

Sparklers: Guests celebrated Vallion's birthday. (Jeaneen Naifeh knew it was his birthday and surprised him with a coconut birthday cake decorated with roses and sparklers.)

Dinner details: The menu featured seared scallops with sweet potato rice cakes and grilled orange beurre blanc, mixed green salad with apricots, spiced pecans and goat cheese, and beef Wellington with red wine sauce.

Seen: Pam and Bill Shdeed, Jeannette and Dick Sias, Ann Felton Gilliland and Bob Gilliland, Carol and Mac Troy, Lela and Mark Sullivan, Ann Johnstone, Cathy and Kurt Leichter, Annie Bohanon, Martha Williams, Kaye and Ed Cook, and Lynn and Ron White.

CHRISTMAS GREENS

Luncheon: Members of the ladies 18-hole and 9-hole golf associations at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club met for the annual Christmas luncheon at the club.

Word from the pro: Head golf professional Tim Fleming talked about women's golf. The Casady String Quartet provided music. Shirley Everest is the women's golf club champion.

Officers: Michelle Ellis, president; Jill Brown, vice president; Melody Brown, treasurer; Ellen Lisle, sports chairman; Cindy Arnold, Melissa Coleman and Susie Kraft, tournament chairmen.

Good deed: The bouquets of flowers on the tables were for sale, and proceeds were donated to the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Children.

Guests: Susan McPherson, Marilyn Meade, Lori Hill, Sally Royse, Bette MacKellar, Jane Crain, Jan Parker, Millie Hightower, Gennie Johnson, Susan Dobson and Pam Shdeed.

CELEBRATION OF SEASON, FRIENDS, STORIES

Occasion: A come-and-go party in the home of Judy and Tom Love honored author Jane Jayroe, who signed her new book, “Devote 40 Days,” co-written with faith-filled friends. Co-hostesses were Brenda McDaniel, Judy Love, Kirk Hammons and Nancy Ellis. McDaniel, Love and Ellis also are contributing authors. The book has devotional articles by Jayroe and short stories from 27 other women.
