SPARKLE AND SHIMMER
Party: Ann Alspaugh and Jim Vallion entertained friends at a holiday dinner.
Place: The Coach House, where lights in the trees at Nichols Hills Plaza surrounded the restaurant and provided a beautiful and colorful holiday setting. Inside, flower bouquets of roses and Christmas greenery decorated the tables.
Sparklers: Guests celebrated Vallion's birthday. (Jeaneen Naifeh knew it was his birthday and surprised him with a coconut birthday cake decorated with roses and sparklers.)
Dinner details: The menu featured seared scallops with sweet potato rice cakes and grilled orange beurre blanc, mixed green salad with apricots, spiced pecans and goat cheese, and beef Wellington with red wine sauce.

Luncheon: Members of the ladies 18-hole and 9-hole golf associations at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club met for the annual Christmas luncheon at the club.
Word from the pro: Head golf professional Tim Fleming talked about women's golf. The Casady String Quartet provided music. Shirley Everest is the women's golf club champion.

Good deed: The bouquets of flowers on the tables were for sale, and proceeds were donated to the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Children.

CELEBRATION OF SEASON, FRIENDS, STORIES
Occasion: A come-and-go party in the home of Judy and Tom Love honored author Jane Jayroe, who signed her new book, â€œDevote 40 Days,â€ co-written with faith-filled friends. Co-hostesses were Brenda McDaniel, Judy Love, Kirk Hammons and Nancy Ellis. McDaniel, Love and Ellis also are contributing authors. The book has devotional articles by Jayroe and short stories from 27 other women.
Guests: At the party were LaDonna Meinders, Jane Thompson, Charlotte Lankard, Barbara Green, Susan Chambers, Kay Murcer, Lori Hansen, Donna Nigh, Debra Mitchell, Lolly Anderson, Donna Lawrence, Bobbie Roe, Karen Waddell, Prudy Gorrell, Betty Catching, Yvonne Kauger, Linda Brinkworth and Lisa Boone.
Tally: Book proceeds for the day (she sold 500 books) went to Oklahoma City University. The book comes out in bookstores at the end of January and is available online at janejayroe.com.
Event: The Seventy Five Club's annual Christmas dinner and dance at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club drew 225 members. Party chairmen were Gennie and Bob Johnson, Judy Love and Linda Garrett.

FUN AND FOOD
Event: Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs Christmas dinner was at The Coach House. Chef Kurt Fleischfresser was presented a plaque from the group for hosting the holiday dinner the past 12 years.
History: The local chapter is called the Bailliage d'Oklahoma City. It is an international food and wine society dedicated to the culinary arts and the pleasures of the table. In general, the Chaine supports the education and training of young chefs and sommeliers through the Chaine Foundation. The foundation will conduct a young chef's competition in San Antonio in March.
