Storm delays Oklahoma City trash pickup

Trash pickup delayed a day

Residents whose normal trash collection day was Tuesday will have their trash picked up Saturday morning, city officials said. Today's closure of city offices won't affect trash customers, according to a news release.

Storm shuts court today

Due to severe weather, the federal district court for the Northern District of Oklahoma will be closed today.

Lines freeze, house burns

Weather conditions hampered response to a Tuesday house fire at 512 Laws Drive, off 48th Avenue NW and Main Street in Norman. The house was destroyed, Deputy Fire Chief James Bailey said. Three people inside the house got out safely. Bailey said firefighters had trouble getting to the location and had problems with lines freezing. The fire is under investigation.

Deadly crash claims man

A Cyril man died Monday in a fatal accident in Caddo County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. Taylor J. Niedo, 21, was dead at the scene of an 8:15 p.m. crash on County Street 2750 a half mile south of County Road 1320 in Caddo County. Niedo was a passenger in a car driven by Derek I. Niedo, 20, of Cyril, who failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the road and crashed into a tree, the patrol reported. Weather conditions were not reported to be a factor. Seat belts were not in use, troopers said.
