MIDWEST CITY — When coaching changes occur, some recruits begin to look elsewhere. That was not the case for Carl Albert cornerback Dwight Dobbins.
Dobbins was firmly committed to Tulsa, but he was wondering if the school felt the same after Bill Blankenship took over for Todd Graham.
Tulsa did, and Dobbins made it official by signing with the Golden Hurricane on Wednesday morning.
“It was a weird month. I just wanted to know for sure that everything was still good because I never had a doubt in my mind,” Dobbins said.
Dobbins was one of the premier defensive backs in the state. He didn't get many opportunities to show what he could do — but he made the most of them when he did.
Dobbins was looking at North Texas, Colorado State and New Mexico. Dobbins knows what he has to do to succeed.
“It's going to be about studying,” Dobbins said. “Watching a lot more film and working on my technique. I'm ready to put the work in.”
