EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) Former heavyweight champion and Oklahoma native Tommy Morrison faces a March court hearing in Kansas on drug charges.
Morrison was arrested last week on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia after a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper allegedly found eight grams of marijuana in Morrison's vehicle.
Morrison was released on $2,500 bond and made his first appearance Tuesday in Lyon County District Court. He faces one felony count of possession with a prior conviction, and a misdemeanor charge of possession.
The 42-year-old former boxer has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 15. Court documents did not list a lawyer for Morrison.
KVOE reports that Morrison was also convicted in 2000 and 2005 on marijuana possession charges.
Morrison defeated George Foreman in 1993 to win the World Boxing Organization's heavyweight title.
