State Rep. Sally Kern gained national attention in 2008 when she made comments that the homosexual agenda is “the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam.”

Now the Oklahoma City Republican state lawmaker has written a book about the experience. Published by FrontLine, a division of Strang Communications, “The Stoning of Sally Kern: The Liberal Attack on Christian Conservatism and Why We Must Take a Stand,” is to be released July 5.

Kern, 64, said Friday she was not authorized by the publisher to talk about the book. But she posted an item on her Facebook page confirming she is now an author.

“It is just my story told without the spin that the media always puts on what happened,” she wrote.

Kern said it took much prodding to consider writing a book.

“I am truly humbled that a major book publishing company would want to publish my story,” she wrote. “If God can use a very ordinary grandma to proclaim the truth of His word, no one will be more amazed than I.”

A description of the book on Amazon's website states that Kern was talking about the Christian principles of America's Founding Fathers when she made her comments in January 2008 about the homosexual agenda. Someone taped her speech, and clips were posted on YouTube, which generated more than 2 million hits and led to what she calls a media “stoning.”

Kern easily won election in 2004 and was unopposed in 2006. Her anti-gay comments caused candidates to oppose her in 2008 and 2010; Kern won at least 58 percent of the vote in both contests.
