Oklahoma City-area voters will decide city council races, sales tax extensions
A runoff for Oklahoma City Council and two Edmond City Council seats are on the ballot in area elections today.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today as voters decide a runoff for Oklahoma City Council and Canadian County residents vote on whether to divert a portion of an existing sales tax from juvenile justice to the county jail.

Also on the ballot will be elections for Edmond City Council and for boards of trustees for several towns in Oklahoma County.
As of Monday afternoon, more than 160 people had voted early at the Oklahoma County Election Board, Secretary Doug Sanderson said.
Charlie Swinton, 61, and Ed Shadid, 42, face each other in a runoff for the Ward 2 seat on the Oklahoma City Council. Swinton, a bank officer, and Shadid, a physician, were the top two vote-getters in the March 1 primary.
