Mavericks 111, Thunder 103

Summary: Dallas scored 10 straight points in a 58-second span midway through the fourth quarter, which started a 24-3 run over 5½ minutes to put the game out of reach. With the Mavs trailing 90-83, Dirk Nowitzki drained a 3-pointer with 7:22 left, followed that with a four-point play (a 3-pointer while being fouled by Serge Ibaka), which was capped by a Jason Terry 3-pointer with 6:24 left. A stunned OKC team was outscored 36-22 in the final period. Nowitzki finished with 34 points, while center Tyson Chandler added 17 points and 18 rebounds. Kevin Durant had 32 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Russell Westbrook had 13 points and 10 assists.

Mavericks 103, Thunder 93

Dec. 27 at Oklahoma City Arena

Summary: Nowitzki landed awkwardly in the second quarter and injured his right knee, which caused him to miss a career-long nine straight games. Dallas coach Rick Carlisle also missed the game while recovering from knee surgery. The Mavs still were able to win by outscoring the Thunder 24-12 in the final quarter. It was Dallas' 17th victory in 18 games. Caron Butler, who five days later would be lost to a season-ending knee injury, scored 21 points. Shawn Marion had 20 points and nine rebounds, Terry had 13 points (11 in the final period) and eight assists, while Kidd had 10 points and 10 assists. OKC shot 4 for 18 from the field in the fourth quarter.

Thunder 99, Mavericks 95

Jan. 6 at American Airlines Center

Summary: The Thunder had the good fortune of playing the Mavs again before Nowitzki returned from a sprained right knee. Dallas also was now without Butler. A completely healthy OKC team got 28 points from Durant, 16 points and nine rebounds from Jeff Green, 15 points and nine assists from Westbrook, plus 31 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and four steals from the bench of Ibaka, James Harden, Nick Collison and Eric Maynor. Marion had a season-high 25 points, with 21 coming in the first half on 10-of-12 shooting. Terry had 19 points. Chandler had 14 points and 18 rebounds. Marion and Terry started in place of Nowitzki and Butler.
