Thunder-Mavericks: Game 2 predictions

FROM STAFF REPORTS Published: May 19, 2011

DARNELL MAYBERRY, Thunder/NBA writer

Mavericks 104, Thunder 99: The same issues the Thunder had in Game 1 will be a problem in Game 2. Dirk Nowitzki is unstoppable in this series. The Mavs have too many shooters. And J.J. Barea is too speedy and shifty to contain.

JOHN ROHDE, Thunder/NBA writer

* Thunder 110, Mavericks 104: Can't imagine Nowitzki or Barea playing much better, but I can see plenty of OKC players improving from Game 1, especially Westbrook. Thunder is 25-6 after a loss. OKC steals one to snap Mavs' seven-game winning streak.

JENNI CARLSON, Columnist

* Thunder 109, Mavericks 102: The bounce-back game has been one of the Thunder's strengths this season. They are 25-6 in games after a loss, and that winning percentage is even better in the playoffs, a perfect 4-0 to this point. I'm sticking with that trend.

BERRY TRAMEL, Columnist

* Mavericks 106, Thunder 101: Until the Thunder solves the problem of Jason Terry and J.J. Barea, much less Dirk Nowitzki, OKC will have trouble winning.

MIKE SHERMAN, Sports editor

* Thunder 105, Mavericks 100: The best way for Oklahoma City to defend Dirk is to run on the Mavericks. Rebound, run and hold his free-throw attempts to 10 or under and the series is tied.
