Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is donating $150,000 to the United Way to help Joplin, Mo., and Oklahoma communities recover from recent tornadoes.

“Our hearts go out to those who were affected. Love's has been impacted by tornadoes in our history, so we know what it's like to rebuild,” said Tom Love, chairman and CEO. “I am proud of our employees who stepped up ... and helped people in great need.”

The Love's in Joplin remained open and donated batteries and flashlights to a tornado-struck hospital and water for a community shelter. Love's is giving $100,000 to Heart of Missouri United Way and $50,000 to the United Way of Central Oklahoma.
