Disaster unemployment benefits may be available

Workers in Canadian, Delaware, Grady, Kingfisher, Logan and McClain counties whose jobs were affected by storms in late May could be eligible for disaster unemployment benefits.

Those who lost work or earnings due to severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding May 22-25 can apply. The application deadline is July 8.

To claim disaster unemployment assistance, the job loss must be due to physical damage or destruction of the workplace, inaccessibility to the workplace or lack of work or loss of revenue for self-employed workers.
