Darnell Mayberry: Expect Thunder's Serge Ibaka to average double-double next season
The Oklahoman's Oklahoma City Thunder beat writer Darnell Mayberry answered questions from readers in today's Power Lunch chat. Read the entire chat recap here. Participate in our Power Lunch chats Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. at NewsOK.com/sports
On what he thinks OKC forward Serge Ibaka will average next season:
A double-double. He's become much more confident in his offensive game, and he's always been a willing rebounder. If he stays on the court without picking up silly fouls, something in the neighborhood of 12 and 10 isn't out of the question. But his main focus probably should be improving his man defense.
On how the Thunder would fare with a "hard" salary cap:
They're set up well for it already. But if the cap comes in on the low side and you absolutely had to make sacrifices, KD, Westbrook and Ibaka would be the three I'd hold onto the tightest. Harden would be a close fourth behind Ibaka.
On if Thunder star Kevin Durant would participate in a "barnstorming" tour while the lockout is on:
Knowing him, I wouldn't be surprised if he's signed up. But he is with another agency than the guys who are talking about it.
