The Ducks Unlimited Premigration Event will be Friday at Remington Park in Oklahoma City in the Eclipse Suite.

Shooting contest at H&H
Saturday is the deadline to apply for the H&H Shootout, a gun and archery contest, at the H&H Sports Shooting Complex in Oklahoma City.
The beginning rounds will be Aug. 8-13 with the finals on Aug. 20.
There will be competition in open and women's divisions in both firearms and archery. In addition, the archery contest will include a junior division for ages 14 and younger.

The Guy Sandy campground in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area near Sulphur has been closed temporarily because of the extreme fire conditions in south-central Oklahoma.
Also, there is a temporary ban in the park on ash-producing fires. Gas grills are permitted for cooking where the grill is at least 5 feet from vegetation.
Youth deer hunts available
Aug. 19 is the deadline for hunters ages 12 to 17 to apply for antlerless deer hunts this fall and winter.
The bonus antlerless gun hunts are designed for beginning deer hunters and will take place on private lands in Osage, Ellis and Alfalfa counties.
Forty-two hunts are available. Youth must have completed hunter education requirements to be eligible.

Traditional archery shoot
The Southern Plains Traditional Archery Championships will be Saturday and Aug. 7 in McAlester at the Army Ammunition Plant
The longbow and recurve competition will be Saturday with selfbows on Aug. 7. Books open at 6:30 a.m. each day and close at 2 p.m.

Volunteers needed to take kids fishing
Volunteers are needed Aug. 20 to help children who are burn victims enjoy a day of fishing on Lake Hudson in northeast Oklahoma.
The 13th annual Oklahoma Firefighters' Burn Camp is held at Dry Gulch U.S.A. near Pryor for children ages 6 to 16 who have suffered major burns.
Aug. 20 is fishing day at the camp, and volunteers with boats are needed to take kids fishing from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tackle and bait are provided.
