Blake Griffin is back on home hardwood this week. The Oklahoma City native is conducting a youth basketball camp in the city, but he took time for a media session Wednesday afternoon to talk about everything from his alma mater, Oklahoma, to his current team, the Clippers.
Rookie of the Year. Slam Dunk Champion. What has this past year been like for you?
It's been a whirlwind. It's been crazy. But it's been a lot of fun. Having to sit out that whole year (because of a knee injury) made me hungrier. All last summer I was working for that. To finally be out there and able to play all year was a blast.
Was there a personal highlight?
There's a ton. Playing all 82 games, I think, is my biggest accomplishment. It was a goal that I had kind of set personally, and just to be able to be able to be out there and enjoy the whole time was just a blast.
What are your feelings about the lockout?
We want to play. Obviously, we don't want to miss any games. Hopefully, they get a deal done. I know Monday's meeting with the NBA and the NBPA didn't go very well, so hopefully things start moving a little faster like the NFL did.
