OU football gets linebacker transfer from University of Michigan

FROM STAFF REPORTS Published: August 16, 2011

Kellen Jones, a 6-foot-1-inch, 223-pound linebacker, has transferred from Michigan to Oklahoma and is eligible to play for the Sooners this season.

Jones' transfer was announced by OU coach Bob Stoops on Tuesday.

“We are excited to add Kellen to our program,” Stoops said. “Obviously he's in a learning phase right now, but he has very good physical skill and is someone who can contribute to our program.”

Jones, a freshman, did not play at Michigan. Jones played high school football in Houston at Saint Pius X High School.

As a high school senior in 2010, he was credited with 110 tackles with 32 for loss and eight sacks.  He also forced three fumbles and recovered two in 11 games.

Out of high schoo, rated Jones as the No. 12 inside linebacker nationally, while listed him at No. 29.
