Three days before fall classes begin, it's still uncertain whether junior defensive end Ronnell Lewis or freshman wide receiver Trey Metoyer will be eligible this football season.

Coach Bob Stoops addressed both situations Thursday following the Sooners' second and final major fall scrimmage.

Lewis needed to improve his academics this summer, but it's unknown whether he met requirements. Lewis did not participate in Thursday's scrimmage.

"He just has some personal matters he's tending to, which we're in support of," Stoops said. "Once those are taken care of, we'll see."

Metoyer, one of the top nation's top freshmen receivers, attended Tyler Junior College this summer in an attempt to qualify.

Etfinalscore.com, the website for the Tyler Morning Telegraph, reported Metoyer fell short of qualifying to play at a junior college, adding he most likely will enroll at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.

Another report, though, said Metoyer could still qualify at OU but is awaiting a ruling from the NCAA Clearinghouse.

"As far as I understand it today, it's still not totally resolved," Stoops said.

OU also hasn't announced whether freshman defensive tackles Jordan Phillips and Jordan Wade qualified. Phillips reportedly is awaiting a ruling from the NCAA Clearninghouse.
