Chandler suffered its first losing season since 2002 last year, and it was a bad one.
The Lions went 1-9, and lost to county rival Stroud for the first time in years.
Senior tight end and linebacker J.J. Terrell is a returning leader for the Lions, and he is intent on returning the team to its past prominence.
Chandler returns 15 starters.
How do you feel heading into the season?
“I'm feeling pretty good. We got a lot of returning starters, so we should be all right.”
Does last year's record give you some extra motivation in practice?
“Definitely. We been getting on everyone in practice because we actually know what it's like to have a season like that.”
Was last year made worse because of Chandler's history of success?
“That just makes that season ten times worse. Chandler hadn't had a losing season in I don't know how long.
“We're all just really looking forward to the season. We're hoping to have a complete turnaround from last season.”
Any games you're looking forward to in particular?
“Stroud is our opener. They are our county rival, and last year was the first time in a long time that we lost to them.”
