Casady had a rebuilding year in 2010, going 3-7 and losing badly at Houston Kinkaid, the conference champion.

This year, senior quarterback and safety Mac Katigan feels more confident because of senior leadership and the Cyclones' 16 returning starters.

What is the outlook for you guys this season?

“We're definitely looking to have a pretty good year. Last year was a rebuilding year — we had lost a lot of seniors — but we're really excited about this year. This senior class has really been working hard and doing what we need to be doing.”

What are some games you are looking forward to?

Well, there's always the Heritage Hall game. But we're really looking toward our first conference game. It's here against Houston Kinkaid. Last year we went down there and it wasn't too good, so we've really got that marked on our schedule. They're the team to beat. They won the conference last year. I don't want to guarantee a win or anything, but I think we've got a pretty good shot this year.

Who are some guys that fans should watch out for?

“We're really looking for Connor McMurrain to step up. He's a receiver, but he's gotta play both ways, in the secondary also. A freshman, Josh Wariboko, will be playing right tackle for us. He's definitely one to be watching this year.”

How were offseason workouts?

“We stayed real focused in the offseason. Everyone was showing up for the workouts, unlike some prior years. We took the offseason really serious. Everyone had a lot of gains in the weight room.”
