Noble went 2-7 last season in coach Steve Barrett's first year back at the helm. Barrett was the Bears' coach from 2002-04, taking the team to the playoffs in each of those seasons.

This season, Noble is looking for continued improvement. Senior defensive end and wide receiver Hunter Long is a leader on the team and says he is seeing signs that things are getting turned around.

What is it going to take to get Noble turned back around?

“It's going to take a lot of dedication; a willingness to make the extra effort.”

Have you seen some of that this preseason?

“We've seen a lot of improvement. We are miles ahead of where we were last year at the end of the year.”

How were summer workouts?

“They were really good, hard workouts. We are lifting a lot more, and we've made big gains in the weight room.

“We're not going to outrun anybody. We have got to hit them in the mouth and play smashmouth football.”

What games are you looking forward to?

“We're really looking forward to the opener against Tecumseh — the Highway 9 rivalry.”
