Norman's Donovan Roberts, George Kittle back and faster than ever

Donovan Roberts and George Kittle give Norman one of the best running back/receiver combinations around.

The duo was a big reason the Tigers made the playoffs for the first time since 2006 last year, going 8-3.

Roberts ran for 1,761 yards and 28 touchdowns in the regular season, while Kittle, playing on both sides of the ball, had 209 receiving yards and five interceptions.

But as good as they were last season, Norman coach Greg Nation insists they'll be better this time around.

“They've both really worked hard in the offseason,” Nation said. “The biggest place people will notice it is in their speed. They're both faster than they were last season.”

The Tigers also have junior quarterback Zach Long back.

Long threw for nearly 900 yards last season as a sophomore. He can also make plays with his legs when needed.

In addition to Kittle, Long has another big-time threat in senior Rico Hogan, who moved to Norman from Kansas.

The biggest question mark for Norman on offense comes up front, where the Tigers return just two starters on the line.

Norman's success last year has made the competitions for those spots more fierce.
