Firefighters: Number battling fires on Wednesday.

Area burned: 12 square miles burned Tuesday, with more land burned as the flames spread north.

Damage to homes Tuesday: at least 17 houses, five mobile homes, one church destroyed. Three houses with major damage. One house with minor damage. Eight houses with slight damage.
