Oklahoma's most potent weapon was the Landry Jones to Ryan Broyles pass connection Saturday night, but FX announcers Gus Johnson and Charles Davis had the most fun discussing walk-on running back Dominique Whaley , who had a combined 150 rushing and receiving yards.

“I tell you what, one day they are going to have to give this kid a scholarship,” Johnson said.

“When they do award it,” Davis said, “the whole state of Oklahoma will stand up and applaud.”

“I don't think they should give him a scholarship this year,” Johnson said. “He is so hungry right now.”

Near the end of the broadcast, FX showed one of his wristbands on which he had written “Walk on.”

Except for a few minor camera glitches, FX turned in a solid performance in covering its second OU home game in four weeks. Sideline analyst Tim Brewster, a former Minnesota coach, was a mild disappointment. Many of his comments were just restating the obvious, such as saying Missouri needed to score quickly or the game risked becoming a blowout.

His analysis of Bob Stoops did add little insight about the OU coach. “He is the complete package. He is an Xs and Os guy. He is a recruiter. He relates extremely well to young people. In all phases, Bob Stoops is doing a heck of a job.”

Johnson went overboard in saying the Sooners wanted to “pour it on” the Tigers to avenge last year's loss at Columbia, Mo.

Davis had high praises for the OU defense, which changed the game's momentum. “If there is a better open field tackling team in the country, I want to know who it is.”

DYNAMIC DUO

ABC's Sean McDonough and Matt Millen earned high marks in describing OSU's 30-29 comeback victory over Texas A&M, showing why they are one of the network's most entertaining teams. ABC also did a good job of capturing the emotions of OSU co-defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer celebrating the victory two days after the funeral of his wife, Angela.
