Boston College's slow slide leaves puts its coach on the hot seat

NATIONAL HOT SEAT – Boston College canned its last coach for interviewing with the Jets. The case against the current coach is a bit more conventional.
Published: September 30, 2011

Boston College fired Jeff Jagodzinski in January 2009 because he interviewed for the New York Jets' head coaching job. BC showed him.

But the Eagles have been on a slow slide ever since. Jagodzinski went 11-3 and 9-5 in his two seasons on Chestnut Hill, and his replacement, Frank Spaziani, hasn't kept the program flourishing.

Despite playing in the mediocre ACC, Boston College has gone 8-5 and 7-6 in two seasons under Spaziani, and now BC is 1-3, with losses to Northwestern, Central Florida and Duke. The Eagles' only victory is over Massachusetts.

Boston College hosts 2-1 Wake Forest, and the Eagles aren't home again until November, with road dates at Clemson, Virginia Tech and Maryland awaiting. Without a victory against Wake, Spaziani's third season at BC could crater quickly.
