In the third quarter Saturday, OU sophomore linebacker Tom Wort scooped up a fumble forced by Travis Lewis. Wort raced untouched 22 yards for his first career touchdown.

After scoring the TD, Wort spiked the ball. When he reached the sidelines, coach Bob Stoops lambasted Wort because it cost the Sooners 15 yards on the ensuing kickoff.

Describe what you saw on your touchdown fumble return.

“The quarterback kept it. Travis made a good play. He caused a fumble and it just popped out there for me. That's Christmas. That's a great present.”

Have you always planned a spike or something if you ever scored?

“I wasn't even thinking about a celebration, spiking it or being malicious in any way to the team. Anytime you can get into the end zone it's a great time. It was just emotions, how I reacted. I thought I was fine. I was celebrating with my teammates. The first time I knew that we had a flag was when I go to Coach Stoops. He wasn't smiling.”

What did Coach Stoops say to you?

“You wouldn't be able to put it in the paper. It's disappointing. I'll learn.”
