OSU coach Mike Gundy: ‘No reason' to leave starters in after halftime

Here's a look at what players and coaches had to say after Oklahoma State's 70-28 win over Kansas:

* OSU quarterback Brandon Weeden on offensive firepower: “When we got the ball and I took the sack the first play, I was like, ‘This is not good.' And then I threw an out route to (Justin) Blackmon and got it converted for a first down, and then after that we kind of settled in and then we were firing on all cylinders.”

* OSU coach Mike Gundy on the decision to take the first team offense out before halftime: “Not that we have to give mercy to anybody, but there's no reason to leave (Brandon Weeden) and (Justin) Blackmon and those guys in when we're ahead by — I don't even know how many touchdowns we were ahead by. There's just no reason to do it, in my opinion.”

* Kansas defensive end Toben Opurum on the Jayhawks giving up 70 points: “It is embarrassing and is something I do not want to be a part of. We cannot do anything about it right now. We need to put it behind us and continue to work hard.”

* Kansas coach Turner Gill on the defensive game plan: “We tried to get them out of rhythm, take some chances. When you do blitz, you are going to be a bit vulnerable. I said ‘Hey, we have to go take some of those chances, or else they're going to sit back and just dink and dunk and do some of those things of that nature.'”

* OSU defensive end Jamie Blatnick on the defensive philosophy: “We have a lot of older guys on our team, and we don't get rattled. It was just like sit down, clean it up and get back out there. Let's take the ball away from them and give the ball to the offense, because we know what they can do with it.”
