OU president David Boren: “He just lifted up everyone, everyone who was around him. He was the same person off the air that he was on the air, and I think that's what made him such a great sportscaster.”

OSU president Burns Hargis: “He embraced me from the first time I saw him, and he never changed. He was exactly the same.”

OU football coach Bob Stoops: “Bob was so dear to so many people. It was just a life well-lived. I guess that's what I walked out (of the service) thinking, ‘Well done, Bob.' You know, he's a special guy.”

1969 Heisman Trophy winner Steve Owens: “He lived a wonderful life. When you think about the folks across Oklahoma, across the country, whether you're a Sooner, or a Cowboy, or from Tulsa, wherever, he was special to all of us. I just feel so fortunate that he was a part of my life.”

Former OU basketball coach Kelvin Sampson: “You spend so much time with a guy like him, then when he's gone, you think back to all the good times. There's so much to celebrate about Bob Barry's life. Bob is one of those people if he was part of your life, you felt like your life was better, you're a better person just by having been around him and have him be a part of your life.”

Former OU basketball coach Billy Tubbs: “Great thoughts. Always good to me. A good friend. We traveled together. Just a wonderful person. It's sad to see him go.”

WWLS talk show host Al Eschbach: “He helped me in my career, to get me going. Just one of the nicest men I've ever known. … I was saddened. I cried a lot. We just lost a great, great man.”
