Students from throughout Oklahoma had the chance to build rockets, eat cheese snacks frozen in liquid nitrogen and mix up their own slime Friday at Science Museum Oklahoma.

Chemistry Day is one of three holidays that museum staff members celebrate each year, museum spokeswoman Jacquelyn Musgrove said. Forensic Day is planned for March, and Space Day will be in May.

“We celebrate different areas of awesome science,” Musgrove said. “It's a time for us to encourage school groups, teachers and families to come out and enjoy hands-on science together.”
