Oklahoma State moved up to No. 2 in both the BCS and Associated Press polls Sunday, the highest ranking for the Cowboys in either poll in school history.

Alabama's 9-6 loss to LSU in overtime combined with the Cowboys' 52-45 win over Kansas State on Saturday night allowed OSU to slide up to the Crimson Tide's spot.

“If we get to the next spot (No. 1), it would be at the end of the year, I think,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said. “We're very excited, and I'm sure the players are excited about it. We need to give them a day to digest it (Monday) and get back to work on Tuesday.”

The Cowboys are ranked third in the USA Today/Coaches poll, behind No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Stanford.
